EAS Licensing & Publishing — New Service

Nobody audits the brief.

Nike had auditors, procurement and eventually a grand jury watching where its music money went. An independent artist offered a sync placement has none of that — just a number in an email, and no way to know what the brand actually paid for the track.

ClearSync Review is a paid, independent check of your sync deal before you sign it.

Case File

Exhibit A — State of Oregon v. Griffith & Mosher

Venue / Washington County, Oregon

Filed / May 2026

Status / Alleged — not proven

John Griffith, Nike's former head of Global Brand Marketing, Music Supervision, Strategy and Licensing, and Brad Mosher, owner of Good Measure LLC — a music licensing vendor whose sole client was Nike — were each indicted by a Washington County grand jury on 24 felony counts, including racketeering and money laundering.

Prosecutors allege the pair inflated invoices for music licensing work and routed roughly half of each overpayment back to Griffith through a shell company, totalling more than $1 million between 2020 and 2022.

Both men have pleaded not guilty. No trial date has been set. Both are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The point is not the verdict. The point is that it took an internal audit function and a district attorney to surface it — resources a brand has and a songwriter does not.

The Gap

Same deal. Two completely different levels of sight.

What Nike had

  • An internal audit team reviewing spend
  • Formal vendor spend review and procurement sign-off
  • A prosecutor with subpoena power
  • Years of invoices, contracts and paper trail

What an independent artist has

  • The number the licensing company tells you
  • No visibility into the brand's real budget
  • No way to check whether the terms are standard
  • Nothing in writing until the moment you sign
